About the North-East Region We are a part of the national organisation of the Embroiderers' Guild UK. Our role is to promote and encourage the enjoyment and participation of embroidery and associated stitched textiles in north-east England. We work as a democratic committee with members drawn from the local branches. We organise three textile related courses each year in Durham City, Harmby in North Yorkshire and, Wooler in Northumberland. Information on our courses can be found on the Regional Events page. Use our Find a Branch page with its interactive map to find out more about the local branches in the region. Individual members of the Guild (those not affiliated to a particular branch) may not hear about local events. If you would like to be included on an e-mailing list, please contact secretary.nerembguild@gmail.com with your full name and Guild membership number. We publish a newsletter several times a year called Runaround. Read the latest edition of Runaround here. Back copies can be found at the foot of this page. Members from all around the region meet at our annual Regional Day on the 3rd Saturday in May each year. This whole day event is always popular; it comprises two speakers of national repute, two competitions, textile related artist/maker trade stalls and, features an exhibition of work from one of the branches. Tickets for this event are booked through the local Branch. Visitors are welcome to attend and should contact the event co-ordinator for more information. Our Regional AGM in October summarises the business of the year where our committee officers and volunteers are elected. Members from the branches meet for friendship and fellowship. There is usually a display of work from one of the branches, with an opportunity to purchase donated haberdashery items. After the business, there is a speaker or demonstration. Our members are encouraged to exhibit their work at shows and suitable venues organised by the Region. Information about recent exhibitions can be found on the Exhibitions page. As with all organisations handling personal identifying information, we are compliant with the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR). We adhere to the Embroiderers' Guild Privacy Policy and the Safeguarding Adults Policy . Back Copies of our Newsletter Runaround can be read from here
